Introduction to Knitting

Have you always wanted to knit for yourself or others? Or maybe you learned to knit years ago and need a refresher? Taught by Randi, this is an introductory knitting class where you'll learn all of the basic skills to make a square coffee cozy. With the skills you learn in this class, you'll feel comfortable with basic knitting techniques and be well on your way to following beginner patterns on your own. 

This class meets over the course of two sessions and we have two options for Fall 2026:

Saturday, September 19th, 9-11am AND Saturday, September 26th, 9-11am

or

Saturday, November 21st, 9-11am AND Saturday, December 5th, 9-11am

Class Level

Absolute beginner! Or, you knit in the past but are looking to brush up on your basic skills. Students must be 14 and older to enroll.  

Class Content

• Casting on
• The knit and purl stitches
• Casting off
  
• Weaving in ends
• How to fix simple mistakes by tinking back

Materials

Please bring the following OR students can enjoy 10% off if you purchase your materials at the shop. (Please be sure to shop early so we can begin the class on time.)

• Worsted weight yarn -- light solid colors are easier to see and work with.
• Knitting needles in size US 8 or US 9

Class Policy

To receive a refund, a class cancellation must be made prior to 72 hours of the start time. To transfer or cancel your registration, you must contact High Tide Fibers before 72 hours from the start time.

Classes may be canceled or rescheduled for insufficient registration. In that event, you will be offered a refund or the option to transfer to another class of equal value.
