Beginner Drop Spindle Class

Curious about spinning your own yarn? Join us for a fun and relaxed Beginner Drop Spindle Class where you’ll learn the craft of handspinning. Learning on a drop spindle is a fun and affordable way to do so! This hands-on workshop is perfect for absolute beginners -- no experience required.

You’ll learn the basics of using a drop spindle to turn un-spun fiber into yarn. In this two hour class we’ll cover:

• The parts of a drop spindle and how spinning works
• How to draft fiber using the park and draft method
• How to build twist and spin a balanced yarn
• How to wind your yarn onto the spindle

By the end of the session, you’ll have the skills to continue spinning at home and the beginnings of your very own handspun yarn. You’ll also receive tips on choosing fiber, troubleshooting common beginner issues, and continuing your spinning journey.

Included:

• Fiber, which you can take home at the end of the session (if you haven't spun it all!)
• Use of a student drop spindle (drop spindles are available for purchase at the shop if you would like to continue spinning, and students of the workshop get 10% off any purchase they make that day)

Class Policy

To receive a refund, a class cancellation must be made prior to 72 hours of the start time. To transfer or cancel your registration, you must contact High Tide Fibers before 72 hours from the start time.

Classes may be canceled or rescheduled for insufficient registration. In that event, you will be offered a refund or the option to transfer to another class of equal value.
