Orquidee (also spelled Orchidee) is a Joji Locatelli pattern for a “wear-it-now” summer weight knitted tee with lace accents. Joji’s designs are flattering and elegant, and simple to knit; although her patterns might not look that way at first! This is knitted in one piece from the top down.

Taught by Fran, students will learn to knit this raglan-sleeve top-down tee in a supportive classroom setting with help at every step. If you've been wanting to dive into knitting garments and lacework, this is the class for you!

This class meets over the course of two sessions, with time in between to make progress on your project:

Session 1 – June 17th, 5:30 – 7:30pm

We’ll start from scratch and leave ready to continue knitting on our own. We’ll cover:

  • How to choose the right size, including getting the right measurements
  • How to make a pattern easy to follow
  • Long-tail cast-on, and why to use it for this pattern
  • Best way to join in the round
  • Using stitch markers and establishing the pattern

Session 2 – July 8th, 5:30 – 7:30pm

For session 2 we’ll start at “Join Fronts (All Sizes)” on page 5 of the pattern. If you haven’t gotten that far yet, don’t worry! What we’ll cover:

  • Dividing for front, back and sleeves
  • Ribbing and binding off in pattern
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Blocking tips, tricks and best practices

Class Level

  • Advanced Beginner to Intermediate knitting skills required -- familiar with following patterns. Students must be 14 and older to enroll.

Techniques We Will Cover

  • How to get a custom fit
  • Raglan shaping
  • Knitting lace – how to make your stitches lean the right way

Materials

Please purchase the pattern and bring a copy with you to class.
