Just in on the tide: New notions & patterns from Sundew Sewing Co.

Just in on the tide: New notions & patterns from Sundew Sewing Co.

We love finding new artists to highlight in the shop. This is Sundew Sewing Co, owned by designer and maker, Sarah, out of her home studio in coastal Maine.

If you've been in the shop within the past week, you've likely grabbed one of her mini zines -- straightforward recipes for hats and socks. Perfect for when you just need to make something and don't want to get bogged down scrolling for patterns. They make lovely gifts for your favorite crafter, too!

We were so happy with these items (and it seems like you are, too!) that we'll have a few more additions soon. Stay tuned. For now, we are happy to offer:

The Flip-N-Fold Hat Mini Zine

You know the hat -- knit a long sausage, flip the bottom into the top, then fold the brim. This pattern is written so that it can be knit for any sized head, with nearly any weight yarn (up to a worsted/aran weight), no swatching needed.

It's a perfect blank canvas pattern to either knit a vanilla beanie, or add your own special details with varying stitch patterns or yarn colors. The zine unfolds to show the hat sausage with simple directions for knitting it from top to bottom. Just pick your yarn and start knitting!

Top Down Sock Mini Zine

A simple top down sock knitting pattern boiled down to the cutest 8-page mini-zine you’ll be excited to hold in your hand and keep in your project bag. Use it to knit a vanilla sock, or use it as a quick reference for when you want to create your own patterns of color and texture, but just need a quick reminder of how to turn a heel or decrease a toe.

Project Tags

Tags! A set of two sew-in labels for your handmade goods (packaged on a flea market trading card). Tags can be stitched into your handmade apparel to mark the back or to provide a spot to write a name, fiber content, wash instructions, or anything else you can fit on a one-inch line. Trading cards are just for fun :)
